TELL US ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL DAY…
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Prince Deck in St Kilda. We wanted the ceremony and reception to be at the one location purely for convenience as it meant we wouldn’t have to travel to and from, we didn’t want to waste any time to get the party started after the ceremony.
The Prince was fantastic and more convenient than we ever could have imagined. We basically spent the entire weekend there. The Prince Deck is also attached to The Prince Hotel, so this meant we could have all our guests book rooms for the weekend and stay under one roof- which we loved! The night before the wedding we had our bridal party and families come out for dinner to the pub below the venue, then the day after the wedding we all came down from our rooms and went back downstairs to have breakfast together and reminisce about the night before.
We didn’t necessarily have a theme or style... I just wanted our wedding to be bright, colourful and fun, it didn’t really matter if things clashed or not. I just picked the things I liked and hoped for the best. We wanted our wedding to feel like a big party.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR Love story…
We meet at the ripe old age of 12 in high school. We were really good friends before we started dating at 17! I even set Joey up with first kiss haha. We both don’t really remember how we went from friends to dating, it just happened organically.
For my birthday in December, Joey had gifted me a trip to Palm Cove and had organised annual leave with my work already. So the plan was set in place! however, the trip was for 2020- which good old covid had something to say about. So that was cancelled.
Instead, we booked a weekend away to Wilsons Promontory. We spent the day going on walks and then later in the day we went down to Whisky Bay to have a beer and watch the sunset. Joey very smoothly asked if I'd marry him and then the rest is a blur!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE Emilia GOWN?
I had actually already purchased another dress and then saw the Emilia gown on another bride, I was so sad I hadn't seem it earlier.
Very long story short- but the day I picked up the original dress was a disaster and it was completely wrong, the company ended up giving me a refund. I left that store and immediately went to go try on the Emilia gown and purchased it that day. Everything happens for a reason!
WHAT DID YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR GOWN?
It was so simple and timeless. I felt like me! I also loved the custom long sleeves under the shorter puff sleeve. It was still modern without being over the top.
WHERE DID YOU PURCHASE YOUR PREA JAMES LOOK?
It was so simple and timeless. I felt like me! I also loved the custom long sleeves under the shorter puff sleeve. It was still modern without being over the top.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE?
Enjoy yourself! Don’t overwhelm yourself with the small details. To be completely honest, no one will even notice! As long as you’re having fun- your guests will too.
How much fun they have at your wedding is what they will remember about the day! The day goes so quickly, spend as little time as possible being away from the reception. You don’t want to be missing out of the party that you’re throwing!
Also- make sure your venue has a wet weather option! The weather is the one thing you can’t control on your wedding day, so knowing there’s a backup option if needed saves a lot of stress.
