Phoebe Wears the MARISKA GOWN & Eloise TailS

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR PARTICULAR GOWN/LOOK?

I had been so inspired by this picture of Audrey Hepburn in her wedding dress, and when I found this dress, it felt like the sweetest little wink to her style, classic and understated, but still completely my own.

It was the kind of dress that could change with the night too - the tails slipped off for the dance floor, and I swapped in a silk scarf for the reception, which instantly gave it a different energy. It felt playful, effortless, and so right for the day!

The moment I knew, though, was during my fitting. I stepped out to show my mum and the girls, and Godspeed by Frank Ocean came on. Within seconds, there were tears all around. It’s hard to explain – it just felt like the universe giving me a little nudge that this was it.

WHERE DID YOU PURCHASE YOUR PREA JAMES LOOK?

Prea James, Paddington Boutique.

Tell us about your special day

Mick and I got married on the 4th of the 4th, which felt like the perfect omen to start this new chapter (also… my favourite number is 8, so the girl math was math-ing).

We chose the Ace Hotel in Sydney - a place that’s both sentimental and celebratory for us. We’d often spoke about how cool it would be to get married there one day, and we loved the idea of a venue that was central for everyone but still felt like a little getaway. There’s just something so old-school and chic about a city hotel wedding… getting dressed up and making a night of it.

Our ceremony felt so intimate - like time slowed down, in a tucked-away private room upstairs, away from the lobby buzz. I walked down the aisle to Mexico Edit by Emile Mosseri and Sam Gendel, and even though we’d already done a first look, the emotion still hit us like a wave.

For the reception, we went upstairs to Kiln – which honestly could not have been more perfect. Guests just hopped in the lift and suddenly we were on the rooftop with this panoramic city view. It was the last weekend of daylight savings, so we got the most magical sunset while eating, drinking and celebrating. The food? Insane. Hands down the best wedding meal I’ve ever had (not biased). People are still talking about it. Go off, chef! The staff were next-level - drinks flowing, everyone feeling looked after, just… perfection.

We ended the night exactly how I’d always pictured, dancing non-stop thanks to our amazing DJ Jesse, and closing on the highest of highs with Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. If you know, you know.

Oh and the vibes continued down at the lobby bar which was just the cherry on top of quite literally the best day of our lives!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES TO BE?

Get ready for the most surreal day of your life - I’m honestly so jealous because I wish I could relive it all over again hehe!

It’s so worth it, so don’t waste time comparing your day to anyone else’s - comparison is quite literally the thief of joy. Keep it authentically you, splurge on the things that make your heart race, and save on the rest, a balance will keep you sane.

And if you can, sneak away with your partner for even just a minute and soak it all in - time will never move faster. Trust me.

Lastly, I’m so excited for you eeep!
