TELL US ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL DAY…

Josh and I wanted our wedding centred around family and friends. A place that felt like a home, with a feeling of calmness, beauty and connection. It wasn’t a difficult decision for us, and we are very lucky we could have our wedding at a family residence in Berry. Josh’s aunty and uncle, Nina and Paul, and now my family, thoughtfully opened their beautiful garden property for our special day.

The wedding style was based on fitting with the atmosphere of the garden around us. I would describe it as thoughtful and timeless.

Tell us about your love story…

Josh and I met when we were 15 years old. We both sailed competitively at the time on Saturdays at Palm Beach Sailing Club, Pittwater. I immediately had a crush the moment I laid eyes on him and luckily he felt the same, we were obsessed with each other. From there, our friendship grew into a young, loving, relationship. Fast track to 2023 to our wedding day, 14 years later, we are still madly in love.

Josh and our great friends, Nat and Tayla, planned a camping weekend up to one of Josh and I’s favourite camping spots in Hampton, just outside Oberon, NSW. After a lovely relaxing day bush walking and exploring. All four of us went up to the top of a hillside for a sunset picnic. Looking out over the blue mountains escapement. It was here, Tayla got us to pose for a photo with the stunning backdrop. unknowing to me, we were not posing for a photo, but being filmed. Just before I set off to walk to the awaiting cheese board, Josh stopped me and dropped to one knee. I can’t believe how oblivious I was, they were very sneaky!

How did you discover Prea James Bridal?

My sister was looking for a wedding dress a year before me and Prea James was one of the designers my sister tried. I had a great experience at the Paddington store while helping my sister. So when it came to my turn to look for a dress. Prea James was the first designer I looked into. When I started looking for designs, Prea James Bridal honestly was unmatched in style and design for me.

What made you fall in love with your dress?

As soon as I tried it on, I couldn’t stop smiling. It was truly the perfect match for me. A dress that felt like an extension of my personality.

Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share?

I ordered buckets of flowers for family members to build extra flower arrangements. It was a special and sentimental detail to our wedding day. The family flower arrangements were set on the signing table, entryways and garden tables, just to name a few places. Table center decorations were op shop silverware and family own pieces I gathered throughout the year.

The lead up to the wedding. Josh and I and family would travel down to the Berry through the year, to help with the garden and property in preparation for our special day. And the week of, it was all hands on deck to get the garden and property looking spectacular. Josh and I are so lucky for our family, so much effort and love was poured into the special day. We cannot thank our family and friends enough.

What is your advice for brides to be?

Don’t forget what this day is about. It is about you and your partner’s love for each other. It is easy to get swept up in the thoughts of pleasing others, and this is where a lot of anxiety and stress can build up. Make sure you are your partner, enjoy the process and lead up as much as the day itself.
