TEAGAN & BRENT'S BATHURST WEDDING
Wedding Date: January 18th 2020
Teagan looks incredible in our Cara gown.
What was your wedding venue and why did you choose there?
We got married at Church Bar, Bathurst and we had both ceremony and reception there.
We chose this venue as it is visually beautiful and located in our very own town. Also it is owned by our very dear friends and because it’s a place Brent and I spend a lot of time together. Oh, and this is where we actually first ever met each other in 2009. I only remembered that about 2 months after picking it!
Did you have a wedding theme/style?
Our style for the wedding was casual, relaxed and fun. We wanted our guests to have a really good time, just like a big party, not too many formal weddings things! We had an open bar, Canapés all afternoon and pizza for dinner! It was a beautiful summers night so we spent a lot of time in the courtyard and then danced all night inside!
How did you and your now Husband meet?
We met at Church Bar! We had a mutual guy friend, Max. He was in a band with Brent and I wanted them to play at my 21st birthday, but Max told me I needed to ask Brent as he organised the bookings. I approached him, I asked, he politely advised they were already booked that night. So I made sure I attended that gig after my party and the rest is history!
What is your proposal story?
Brent proposed on my 30th birthday in Melbourne, one of both our favourite places. Brent and I had been together for ten years. We owned a house and a block and we were pretty set. He wasn’t massive on the marriage thing so that was always a topic of conversation between us. Brent is not one to be told what to do either so while everyone was ‘expecting’ him to propose, he wasn’t going to! The year I turned 30 we decided to try to start a family as that was important to us regardless of marriage. We were lucky enough to fall straight away so by the time my 30th came around I was 5 months pregnant. Brent will tell he had planned the proposal for my 30th in Melbourne before we fell pregnant so despite that he went ahead and proposed in our hotel room on my birthday.
How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
Instagram. I saw the Cara Dress and instantly knew it was what I would wear. It was exactly my style. I’m a jeans and white tee kinda girl for ALL occasions and I knew wearing a dress where the top kinda resembled a really fancy T-shirt was PERFECT for me.
From where did you purchase your gown?
I purchased it from beautiful Amy at Mrs Fray.
What do you love most about the gown?
I love the simplicity of it but that it still captivates attention! I loved the tee style top as mentioned above. And the material makes the dress! It elevates such a minimal style dress into something truly special.
Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share?
We chose the venue as it was were we met and it meant a lot to us. We wanted to day to feel relaxed and easy for us and our guests so we decided to keep it all in one place. Our guests were able to sit and relax with an open bar and we were able to make sure we were mingling in and out while we stayed close by for official photos.
We also wanted to make sure we involved our daughter Lila as much as we could in the marriage process so when we exchanged vows and rings we also gave her a gift as she was just as much a part of this day as Brent and I together.
Were there any details that you made yourselves?
Not really, we kept it really simple and let the venue do all the visual work, so there wasn’t a lot of stuff specifically but we definitely cut some costs by doing things ourselves, like the cheese plates haha.
Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?
Make sure you pick your 2 or 3 top things that you really want for the day. Make them a priority and then don’t worry about all the other things if they don’t come up perfect once you sit with your budget and other restrictions.
Also, when deciding if you should try squeeze something in that you think you ‘should’ have, my friend told me “if it won’t make your day more fun, don’t spend more money on it”. She was spot on! At the end of the day all you will remember is how much fun you had, not if you had linen tablecloths and people liked them.
