Phoebe & Luke’s HUNTER VALLEY WEDDING
TELL US ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL DAY…
We held our wedding at Krinklewood Estate in Broke. We went to Krinklewood for a wine tasting one day and were instantly transformed to the South of France - the wine, the gardens, the residence and the outlook to the mountains. We really wanted our wedding to feel like an experience for our guests. We couldn’t pass up the convenience of a destination that was within 2 hours of home. We also loved that Krinklewood had many different (wet-weatherable!) spaces that we could transition through throughout the day. We had our ceremony in the fountain garden, the canape and spritz hour outside the residence in the tiered garden and our reception in a marquee in the courtyard of the cellar door, and we were able to slip away for our portraits at the tennis court and pool.
Luke and I have been together for over a decade and we have been best friends for even longer so it was very important for us to create a day that represented us and our love. Our gorgeous celebrant Grace curated a ceremony that was bursting with love and laughs. Delivering our personal vows to each other was truly surreal. Honestly, the whole day was just a dream. We had the most amazing, creative vendors and surrounded ourselves with our friends and family we love the most. We made sure our guests knew how much we loved them and how grateful we were to have them there for our day. The love was palpable and it really was the absolute best day of our lives.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR PARTICULAR GOWN/LOOK?
I come from a very open and opinionated family of girls. My entourage included my mum, my aunt and my two sisters and there were a lot of honest opinions. I was instantly drawn to the Nina gown by the minimalist style, the square neckline and A-line skirt, elegant and timeless. When I tried it on it was definitely a front runner. I came back to Prea James by myself a fortnight later and tried on the Nina gown again. I adored it, refined and classic, and incredibly comfortable.
WHERE DID YOU PURCHASE YOUR PREA JAMES LOOK?
Prea James Paddington, Maddie and Kira were amazing. I spent a bit of time bridal gown shopping and the experience with these ladies was like no other. They made me feel relaxed and provided a really personalised and enjoyable boutique experience.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES TO BE?
Try and enjoy the planning of your day. Put simply, your wedding day should be a representation of the two of you and your love for each other and your people. In the very early stages we each listed 3 things that were most important, non-negotiables for us and when we got waylaid we came back to them for perspective. Be honest with each other about your values and share your excitement for the day with each other and your other loved ones.
Choose vendors that you trust and trust THEM back. We handpicked an almost entirely local team of vendors that often work together. We knew from social media and word-of-mouth just how talented they all were, we gave a pretty basic brief and a lot of them a fair amount of creative license without needing too much direction. Fostering a relationship with our team, and treating the professionals with respect for their craft paid dividends. On our day and even now after the fact we have felt like the team went above and beyond for us to have the best day of our lives.
