Sofia and Anthony's Paviljoen Puur Wedding
What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there?
We got married at Paviljoen Puur , a charming outdoor wedding venue just outside of Amsterdam. We wanted to host our wedding in or around Amsterdam, as we had a lot of friends and family coming to visit our city for the first time.
However, we liked the idea of an outdoor venue where we could be surrounded by nature during the ceremony. When we visited Paviljoen Puur we, instantly knew it was the perfect place for us. We loved the ceremony spot, as well as the fact that we were able to host the ceremony, drinks, dinner and party all at the same venue.
Did you have a wedding theme/style? If so, tell me about it please.
We didn’t have a specific theme, but we wanted the day to be elegant yet laidback, as well as ‘gezellig’ (Dutch word for cozy / good vibes).
How did you and your now Husband meet?
We met at a mutual friends’ house party during our time at Yale University, where we both went to graduate school.
What is your proposal story?
We actually have two proposal stories, since we decided that we were going to propose to each other (whereby whoever wanted to could go first).
I beat Anthony to it: I proposed to him just after Christmas 2020, when we were staying in a tiny house on a farm up in the north of the Netherlands. A couple of weeks later, Anthony proposed to me during our weekly farmer’s market visit, on one of the prettiest bridges in Amsterdam.
From where did you purchase your gown?
How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
I think I learned about Prea James when I visited Wild at Heart to search for a wedding dress. I tried on the Cara dress and knew it was the perfect dress for me.
What do you love most about the gown?
It was so nice to wear something that felt elegant, effortless and comfortable at the same time.
Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share? (A particular reason you chose the venue, or the date, or did you have a special ritual in your day that was important to you?)
A fun detail is that we hosted a wedding afterparty in the centre of Amsterdam, after the ‘first’ party ended. Party buses took our guests to the afterparty venue, where we could continue dancing with our friends until the early morning.
Were there any details that you (and friends and family) made yourselves?
Our good friend Sharon designed and created our wedding bands.
Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?
Create a solid wedding day schedule, and make sure you clearly delegate all responsibilities. On the day itself, just relax and try to soak in every moment, as it flies by!
