What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there?
Our wedding venue was at Casa Bruciata in Umbria, Italy. My husband and I always dreamed of getting married in Italy and did some research online to find the perfect place - it was so charming and felt like we were in a movie once we got there.
Did you have a wedding theme/style? If so, tell me about it please.
Yes and no - we wanted to let the venue speak for itself because the setting was so beautiful. We kept it pretty simple and worked with what was there - Casa Bruciata is on an olive grove so we used a lot of olive branches in our decor to make everything feel really organic.
How did you and your now Husband meet?
Instagram! A mutual friend of ours posted a photo of him in 2014 and I was like, who is that?
What is your proposal story?
One of our favourite places to spend time together is the kitchen - we love to cook. Matt proposed on a Saturday morning in our kitchen, just us two. It was perfect.
How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
I run a digital marketing agency called Babe, and one of our clients is Loversland - Prea James’ exclusive Canadian retailer. Danielle and Yvonne (the founders of Loversland) told me to wait until Prea James’ first trunk show there before making any gown decisions because they knew I would love it and they were so right. The style of the gowns are so classic with a bit of fun which totally speaks to my personal style.
From where did you purchase your gown?
Loversland in Toronto, Ontario
What do you love most about the gown?
I love that I had three pieces to create three moments throughout my day - I wore the Malene Gown with the Cecile Blouse for the Ceremony, the Malene Gown with the Mia Mesh Top for our dinner, and the Malene on her own for the reception.
Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share? (A particular reason you chose the venue, or the date, or did you have a special ritual in your day that was important to you?)
Our wedding was a (very) intimate 13-guest wedding. We wanted only our closest family and friends to share in this moment with us and I am so grateful to have had so many special moments with my husband and our guests throughout the big day. I got ready with my mom (and had champagne with my parents right before the ceremony) and it felt so special to just spend time with them before saying I do.
Were there any details that you (and friends and family) made yourselves?
Nope!
Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day? This can be to do with any part of the wedding – eg, planning, budget, or the day itself.
I heard this one a lot but it really is great advice - take as many moments as you can during your wedding to pause and take it all in. It goes so quickly and it really is such a special moment in your life - be present.
