Kaylene and Shaun's Elegant Country Wedding
What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there?
My parents farm!
The farm is so special to us, my father was raised on the farm and has been in the family for 3 generations. So many beautiful memories have been made there.
Shaun and I did not even consider any other venues, the farm was always going to be our place.
Did you have a wedding theme/style? If so, tell me about it please.
Our theme was a relax but elegant country wedding. All colours and florals were all inspired by the surround landscape.
How did you and your now Husband meet?
Shaun and I met seven and a half years ago on a night out in Melbourne. Five dates later he finally kissed me and the rest is history.
What is your proposal story?
Shaun proposed on a romantic picnic in my favourite place, Torquay, in December 2019, with the beautiful Zia Ring by Cushla Whiting in hand, which he chose himself.
How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
I first found the Prea James gowns on Pinterest when I started my search. I was initially drawn to the Tyler Gown on there. The way it fell effortlessly on the model and looked elegant without being too fitted is what I was gravitating towards.
From where did you purchase your gown?
I went into Bluebell Bridal on Flinders Lane in Melbourne with Pinterest images of the Prea James gowns I had seen online. Every gown that I tried on was beautiful but not the one for me.
Then the stylist bought out the Malene gown, which I had not seen online. I put it on, stood on the platform and looked in the mirror and shed a tear instantly. Myself, my mum and my bridesmaids all knew it was the dress for me!
What do you love most about the gown?
I loved the bias cut of the gown, the way it hugged my body in all the right places and fell effortlessly in others.
It was so elegant and timeless, I wish that I could wear it again and again. The cut out at the front was simple and elegant.
Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day? This can be to do with any part of the wedding – eg, planning, budget, or the day itself.
Our best pieces of advise would be, as a couple, list out all your values and priorities you have for the day. And then come back to them which making decisions.
A priority of ours was to make our guests feel relaxed throughout the entire event, so when planning we always came back to evaluate how each decision aligned with that priority.
We recommend giving yourself time to plan!! Wedding planning can be really stressful, by having a longer engagement it meant we had lots of time to plan our the day we wanted, without being overwhelmed by time pressures. We had time to research vendors that aligned with our values and that we connected really well with. It also gave us time sit with decisions without jumping at the first opportunity that arose.
Lastly, something we learnt early on is to have a killer spreadsheet with everything in one place. We stored ours on Google Drive so we could access it anywhere anytime, this was a game changer for organisation
Wedding Vendors
We adored every single one of our vendors, they absolutely bought our vision to life.
