What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there?

Our wedding took place at my parents’ house in North Western Ontario. We were initially supposed to be married in the Dordogne region of France but like a lot of couples we had to change our plans due to Covid. Luckily, my family has a beautiful property in the country.

Did you have a wedding theme/style? If so, tell me about it please!

I wanted our wedding to feel fun and playful, but still romantic.

Since I work in the wedding industry, I’ve seen almost every trend and style over the past few years so I really just tried to create a wedding that was beautiful and personal.

How did you and your now Husband meet?

We actually met as roommates through Facebook in June of 2015. I had a two bedroom apartment and posted a roommate ad on a Toronto Facebook group and Geoff moved in.

We now get to celebrate our roommate anniversary as well as our wedding anniversary!

What is your proposal story?

We got engaged at our local Pub Trivia. We had been going weekly with friends ever since we met, and one night Geoff rigged the game so that my ring was in a prize box that I won.

It was so nice to have a few of our close friends there and celebrate with champagne in the pub.

How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?

Through instagram!

From where did you purchase your gown?

I purchased my gown at Loversland in Toronto. I had the best time shopping there with Danielle & Yvonne and they made the process stress free and fun.

What do you love most about the gown?

I really loved how comfortable it was to wear all day and night!

And I loved how much it felt like my style - I didn’t feel like I was playing dress up or wearing something totally out of the norm, I just felt like the most beautiful version of myself.

Were there any details that you (and friends and family) made yourselves?

I made the bar menu and seating chart myself using a Cricut machine.

Since I’m a wedding florist I did a lot of the flowers myself. I spent the evening before my wedding doing the centrepieces and then I woke up early on the day of the wedding to make my bouquet as well as my maid of honour’s. It was a really peaceful way to start the day!

My very talented boss Alex of Patchouli Design did all of the stunning floral installations on the day of the wedding.

Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day? This can be to do with any part of the wedding – eg, planning, budget, or the day itself.

Hire vendors that you trust and then on the day of the wedding just leave it to them and let go!

There were a lot of aesthetic things I had planned for my wedding that didn’t pan out because it was such a windy day but on the day of I really didn’t care because I was having so much fun!
