Jasmine and Mark's Wythe Hotel Wedding
What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there?
Our ceremony and reception were both at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn. Since Mark is a chef and I worked in the restaurant industry as well, we both agreed early on that food and service was a big factor for us.
The Wythe Hotel has an exceptional in-house restaurant called Le Crocodile that caters for all weddings at the hotel and the events team was extremely professional and helpful from the beginning. I wanted the process to be as seamless and stress-free as possible!
We also loved the easy transition from the ceremony to the reception space, and our close friends and family were able to stay at the hotel the weekend of, which was so convenient for everyone.
Did you have a wedding theme/style? If so, tell me about it please.
We didn’t have a specific theme, but I wanted it to be modern and elegant.
I’m a minimalist at heart, which worked perfectly for the space because it’s so beautiful on its own.
How did you and your now Husband meet?
Mark and I met working at a restaurant in the east village called Prune. He was a sous chef, and I was a server. After many months of glances and awkward conversations I finally asked him out on a date, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
What is your proposal story?
We planned a weekend getaway to the Catskills because we adore upstate in the wintertime, and it was right around our two-year anniversary.
We stayed at a beautiful, wooded hotel called The Debruce.
After arriving to the hotel, we had lunch and then decided to go for a walk in the snow. After about five minutes of walking, Mark pretended to fall behind me and as soon as I turned around to see if he was ok, he was on one knee with a ring. It was just the two of us, no other people, and no cameras, which is what I had always imagined.
We laughed and cried and slowly made our way back to the hotel and called our families immediately. We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating at the hotel.
How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
I came across Prea James Bridal on Instagram and immediately fell in love with the simplicity and beautiful fabrics of all the gowns.
From where did you purchase your gown?
I purchased my gown from LOHO Bride in Los Angeles.
What do you love most about the gown?
I have so much to say about this gown! It’s so elegant and classic, but the cut-out made it stand out compared to all the other dresses I tried on.
It was like nothing I had seen, and I felt like myself when I was wearing it which was really important to me. The lines of the dress are also so flattering, and it was so comfortable to wear the day of!
Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share? (A particular reason you chose the venue, or the date, or did you have a special ritual in your day that was important to you?)
When planning our wedding we wanted it to be as personal as possible. Since our entire love story has taken place in New York, we knew we wanted to have our wedding in the city.
Our perfect venue ended up being just a few blocks away from the first apartment that we shared together which felt meant to be!
For the ceremony, we had our close friend and former co-worker from Prune, Karla, officiate. She has been present since the beginning of our relationship, so it was the perfect way to share our story with our friends and family.
Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day? This can be to do with any part of the wedding – eg, planning, budget, or the day itself.
If you’re debating on doing a first look or not, I highly recommend it! It was one of my favourite parts of the day, and not only a special time to connect with Mark before walking down the aisle but also an important moment to take a breath and take it all in.
Also, I was a very stressed and anxious bride leading up to the wedding, but I promise you every small thing you’ve been worrying about will fade away as soon as you’re standing at the altar with your person and loved ones!
