Wedding Date: 6th June 2020

What was your wedding venue and why did you choose there?
Actually, we were supposed to be married in a 700-year-old mill in the countryside near Frankfurt, where the festivity was also to take place. Guests from five different countries were supposed to celebrate with us.  We knew already in March, that this one year planned feast could not take place due to the Covid-pandemic.

The registry office was closed for several weeks and we got the confirmation of our wedding date only three weeks before the wedding. Finally, we were allowed to get married in a small, old local registry office, in the presence of 8 family members. The guests who attended the ceremony had to wear masks. Only us two were allowed to take off the masks at a certain point. Fortunately, just in time the regional Covid rules opened up, meaning we could host a garden party in our family garden, directly in Frankfurt. For the main part we were only 18 family members.  In the evening, friends and relatives came, split into shifts to congratulate us and drink champagne.

Did you have a wedding theme/style?
The subject was clearly Covid's wedding. Even both our bachelor parties were online zoom sessions. When it came to the lock down in Germany in March, we both agreed that we more than ever would like to get married, even if it was as a twosome. We were engaged for two years already, as our son was born last year, thus we did not want to postpone it again. Furthermore, we did not know how the situation would develop and if all our family members can celebrate with us in good health next year. It was very sad to let go of the old plans and not be able to celebrate with all of our friends. However, we were happy to get married in a small circle of loved ones, as for weeks it was not possible to marry in Frankfurt at all.

We had quite a bit of bustle as we had to arrange everything like catering, a tent for the rainy day etc. in only three weeks.  We knew that we had a great responsibility and that we needed a secure concept for the wedding. At our table for 40 people there were only 18 people sitting to keep distance.  Everything had to take place outside, the champagne reception was separated locally from the family members to protect our parents, which we have hardly seen at all in these weeks.
Moreover, a lot of things went wrong because of the Covid lockdown. Till's tailor-made suit unfortunately did not arrive in time and we bought a last-minute ready-to-wear suit. My jacket did not arrive either, hairdresser's appointments were fully booked etc.
But the great service providers we worked with, such as the florist, make-up artist etc., were extremely committed and it was special for them too, because all other weddings had been cancelled. We formulated rules for the guests not to come into uncomfortable situations, like no kissing and hugging, no dancing etc. We had masks tailor-made as gifts for our guests.

How did you and your now Husband meet?
We have met 5 years ago while going partying in Frankfurt. We had common friends.

What is your proposal story?
Till proposed on our 3 years anniversary, which we celebrated with a picnic on a mountain where I grew up.

How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
I was searching a long period, went to 6 different stores and suddenly I saw a picture of the Cara gown on Instagram. Then I looked up the stockist in Germany and that’s how I found out about All The Feels store in Wiesbaden.

What do you love most about the gown?
It is minimalistic and modern from the front and classic from the back. It is the perfect match of us as a couple, as I am very traditional and Till is super modern and minimalistic.

Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?
At this point I would like to encourage all concerned couples, who had planned a wedding within the Covid time. It is very individual if you want to postpone it or not. For us it was the right thing to marry in this other kind of way. You may have a very special day, even it is totally different what you have dreamed of. Joy and fun are more important than the perfect conditions.
