GABBY & BRIAN'S SYDNEY WEDDING
Wedding Date: 12th October 2019
What was your wedding venue and why did you choose there?
We had our ceremony at St Bede’s Catholic Church in Pyrmont and our reception at Chiswick Restaurant in Woollahra.
We chose the ceremony space as it had come highly recommended to me by my maid of honour, as her brother had gotten married there years earlier!
Chiswick Restaurant was also an easy choice as serving amazing food at our wedding was a top priority, and I knew Matt Moran’s menu would be an absolute winner with our guests.
Did you have a wedding theme/style?
We didn’t have anything in mind, but it ended up being kind of garden party/relaxed as this fit with our reception venue the best.
How did you and your now Husband meet?
We met in 2007 when I moved to Sydney for university. He was the first person that I met in Sydney and I remember him helping me move my luggage into my dorm room! We were friends for many years after that and started dating in 2012.
What is your proposal story?
He took me for a walk in Giba Park in Pyrmont with views of the Sydney Harbour. I had an inkling that something was going to happen as he had visited my family the weekend before (to ask for my parents’ blessing) and our Chihuahua Eddie was wearing a little suit (yep, dead giveaway)!
It went a little differently than he expected though as there was a couple that were making out a few metres away from us and a girl doing yoga too! It always makes me laugh just thinking about it.
How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
I found Prea’s work from good old-fashioned Google. The Cara dress was the first dress I really fell in love with. I had tried on a few dresses by that point and knew what I liked, and I kept coming back to this photo of the model wearing the Cara dress.
From where did you purchase your gown?
I purchased it directly from Prea’s studio in Wollongong! Best excuse to meet Prea in person.
What do you love most about the gown?
I LOVE the twist front and was pretty excited that it was created using a form of Japanese pattern making – my hubby and I love Japan (we went there for our honeymoon) and thought that was really cool. I also love the low back.
Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share?
One of the things I was most excited about was including our chihuahua Eddie on the day. We hired a professional wedding pet minder to take care of him so he could stay entertained whilst also being there with us for most of the day. I made sure he was in lots of our photos!
Were there any details that you made yourselves?
Not myself, but my maid of honour and “bridesmen” made me a beautiful book filled with polaroids and messages of the entire wedding planning process, including snaps they had taken of the actual day! It was truly amazing to be able to relive it all again from their perspective.
Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?
The best piece of advice I got was just to enjoy the day itself because it goes by in a blur!
