Wedding Date: 25th May 2019

What was your wedding venue and why did you choose there?
Circa 1876 in the Hunter Valley. The ceremony was outside in the beautiful mop top aisle and the reception inside the restaurant. We chose to get married there because it was where we got engaged so it had special memories and also because it is such a beautiful spot.

Did you have a wedding theme/style?
Classic but with a modern twist.

How did you and your now Husband meet?
At a bar - we were introduced by a mutual friend and got along really well straight away.

What is your proposal story?
Oscar organised a surprise weekend away in the Hunter Valley for our 8 year anniversary and popped the question!

How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?
Initially through the Bridal Atelier in Double Bay, where I tried on a few dresses, before going to Wollongong to see the full collection and to meet the beautiful Prea!

From where did you purchase your gown?
Prea’s gorgeous studio in Wollongong.

What do you love most about the gown?
Everything! It is exactly what I had pictured in my head before I started looking for a gown. I had been looking for a few months and was starting to panic a bit that I wasn’t going to find a gown that I loved, but then Prea released her new collection in January. As soon as I saw the Elena gown I knew it was The One! I only had a few months until the wedding by that point but Prea was so accommodating and took away all of my stress!

Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?
When organising the wedding: We asked the wedding venue for their ‘Little black book’ of recommended vendors and we ended up going with most of them- it took so much stress out of the process because we knew that they were ‘tried and tested’!

On the wedding day: Enjoy every minute and spend plenty of time on the dance floor!

Wedding Vendors

Photographer: The amazing James Bennett who made the whole experience so much fun and is ridiculously talented.

Hair & Makeup: The beautiful ladies at Chic Artistry.

Florist/Stylist/Stationery: Peonies Boutique Weddings
Brooke and Darlene from Peonies did the most amazing job and made the whole process so easy for us - we picked a colour scheme and they did the rest! We were absolutely blown away by how beautiful everything looked on our wedding day and the floral arrangements received so many comments from our guests.

Caterer/Cake: Circa 1876

Accommodation: The Convent (owned by the same group as Circa 1876 and just a few metres away from Circa). The rooms were so beautiful and it was so much fun staying there for the weekend with our family and friends. We loved it so much that we ended up staying for an extra night after all our guests had gone!

Celebrant: The lovely Lauren Teys who set such a nice vibe for the day.
