I recently met the lovely Kellie from The Future Mrs at the Hello May Real Wedding Special Sydney launch lunch.

I absolutely love what the ladies at The Future Mrs have put together for brides to be, so I decided to do a little interview with Casey (the founder and creative director) and Kellie (the managing director) to share with my brides, so that you can all learn more about exactly what this wonderful team offers!

I was also lucky enough to have Phoebe Fever one of the hair & makeup artists from The Future Mrs working on the latest lookbook I shot. Phoebe is actually an old friend of mine and she is one of the best H&M artists around! Check out some of the images below to see what I mean... x x

PREA: What inspired you to start The Future Mrs?

CASEY: The idea for The Future Mrs came about when a bride gave me one of my own editorial images by coincidence as a reference during her trial… It was a beachy bronze makeup look, dewy skin and a stunning highlight on the cheekbones. The bride was beyond excited to learn that I was the makeup artist on that shoot and yes, I could give her that look for her wedding day.

PREA: Can you tell me what sets The Future Mrs talent apart from regular talent?

KELLIE: Our talent are some of the nations best editorial photographers, fashion stylists, hair stylists and makeup artists which mean they come from a high fashion and commercial background. Their skills are second to none and they love providing TFM brides with some of the same “magic" from their favourite brand and magazine shoots.

PREA: What is the biggest hair and makeup mistake a bride can make?

CASEY: Not booking with The Future Mrs! lol! Seriously though… I would say not having a hair and makeup trial.

PREA: Why is it important for a bride to have a hair and makeup trial?

KELLIE: It's important for the following reasons:

  • To make sure the look you want actually suits you. During a trial you can test different options so on the wedding day you don’t run into any surprises.
  • To test the longevity of how your hair and makeup will hold. You might want beachy waves but find your hair type doesn’t hold curl very well and either extensions are required or an updo is more suitable.
  • To ensure you have good chemistry with your chosen talent! That’s a big one. They are going to be getting you ready to walk down the isle so it’s important you get on.

PREA: Do you have a favourite product right now?

CASEY: My personal favourite is the Becca Cosmetics Opal Liquid illuminator. I apply it to the high points of the face after I've cleansed and moisturised the skin and then again on top for that extra pop. It's non glittery and makes you look radiant and lit from within. The ultimate yes for wedding day glow!

PREA: What wedding day hair and makeup trends do you forecast for Spring/Summer 2019?

CASEY: You know what is trending? Good Skin! Glowing, almost dewy, barely there makeup bases. It’s a very high end look and we are loving it! For Spring/Summer I think corals are going to make quite the appearance in a more deliberate sense, blushes and eyeshadows being more harmonious paired with that barely there base. It's a stunning and feminine look that’s still modern.

In terms of hair styling we are seeing a lot of the textured waves and textured updos. What I am loving is the new found use of bridal hair accessories. Gone are the days where they are glittery, baulky or just straight up tacky. Lelet NY has got a stunning range. Again the influence is from runways and bridal looks are really evolving into something quite extraordinary.

PREA: What’s your top tip for a bride to be?

KELLIE: It’s hard to have just one tip! In terms of Hair and Makeup I would highly recommend engaging an artist with years of experience. It’s not only for their skills as a hair and makeup artist but also for their experience in knowing how a wedding day should run and how to deal with any stressful situations that may arise.

I’d also say to allocate an appropriate budget to hair and makeup and photography. Spending an extra couple of hundred dollars to secure someone really great is worth it because at the end of the day it’s about how you feel and the moments captured.

In terms of planning your wedding try to limit stress by delegating or engaging professionals like wedding planners or one of our bookers. I frequently receive feedback from brides saying that they wish they’d known about our service earlier so they could have booked everything with the one supplier.

But most importantly have fun with it. Be you. Don’t get caught up by the little things that don’t really matter on the day. It all goes by so fast so try and be present and enjoy every moment.
