Lauren & Adam's Adelaide Winery Wedding

Wedding Date: 4th November 2016

What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there? Golding Wines, Lobethal South Australia. My now husband grew up in Adelaide. We often visit the Adelaide Hills. It’s a stunning area and the food and fine is delicious.

Did you have a wedding theme/style? Not so much a theme, however we aimed for bright spring tones. We used what was in season, such as peonies. Our style was modern, clean, fresh, white with hints of gold (gold cutlery and gold cake). Our colour palate was spring with peaches and pinks. We used rosemary on each persons name card as a nod to my late father in law.

How did you and your now Husband meet?  We met through my sister. The first time we met I was in an elevator on my way out for my 18th birthday. The elevator doors opened and Adam got in. He was a mutual friend of my sisters boyfriend at the time. My sisters (now ex boyfriend) asked Adam to join us. Adam stayed in the lift and we went out to Moulin rouge in the cross. I hated the scene and left.

The next night Adam came to my sister’s birthday. There was a cake for me also as my sister and I are two days apart. Adam read the cake and said “Who the *** is Lavern?”…. I asked him if he even knew whose party this was. From there his witty charm kept me interested.

What is your proposal story? It was our babymoon at Stanwell tops in a beautiful garden (tumbling waters retreat) where Adam got down on one knee.

How did you hear about Prea James Bridal?  A mutual friend, Veronica.

What do you love most about the wedding gownSo many elements….. That is was custom made - no dress the same. The sleeves on the bridal gown were detachable (allowing me to have a second look for the reception). The detail of the lace on the bodice and bleeding down the wedding dress. The lace window for the train… oh la la it was spectacular

Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share?

Adelaide had a really bad run of weather (floods, blackouts) pre and post our wedding date. All of the stars aligned the day we got married. It was spectacular weather, the grounds were beautiful, the food was delicious, music perfect, flowers stunning etc. It just all came together and truly was the perfect day. I did not stop smiling all day.

We also lit a candle for Wally (Adam’s father) who passed away a few months before the wedding. I feel like he was looking over us that day.

Photographer: Bentinmarcs (Mark Dohring)

Mark is a beautiful person. He makes you feel gorgeous and relaxed at the same time. Mark took phenomenal shots that will allow us to live through our memories for a lifetime. Highly recommend for any future brides (he travels too interstate and overseas). Mark captured all of the key shots we asked for. We could not be happier with his work.

Videographer: Captivate Films. They did a fantastic job at capturing our day. We had friends and family in tears watching it again.

Hair & Makeup: Hair by Bel Hindu from pip squeak in Saigon. Bel is such a cool chick. She was so much fun to be around the morning of my wedding and created exactly what I was after for my hair (which lasted all night) @pipsquuekinsaigon instagram

I then had Rose from media makeup. My makeup was flawless and lasted all night. Rose is a gorgeous person.

Florist: The incredible Christine from blooming bridal. Christine went above and beyond. She made my day. People are still talking about the flowers.

Stationery: Leisha from Off on My Bicycle. Reasonable prices and custom made. Leisha was fantastic to work with. She captured all of the elements I asked for.

Cake: Family friend Elaine Tonellato (2 teir, gold foil, chocolate genache).

Caterer: Part of Goldings – La Dolce Vita

Hire/Prop furniture hire: White bentwood chairs from Sash Events

Accessories (Veil/headpiece/jewellery) Veil by Prea James Bridal

Nicky & Steve's Gracelands Beachside Wedding

I’m thrilled to share this absolutely beautiful wedding with you all... my gorgeous bride Nicky and her now Husband Steve who married late last year at Gracelands in the Central Coast of NSW.

The day was captured by the insanely talented Lara Hotz and I think you will agree she has captured the relaxed, joyful and romantic mood of the day perfectly! xx

Wedding Date: 8.10.16

What was your wedding venue and why did you choose there?

We chose to have both our ceremony & reception at a place called Gracelands at Forresters Beach on the Central Coast about 5 minutes from where we live.

Gracelands ticked all the boxes for us as the perfect wedding venue, it has a wonderful ambience, friendly relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous industrial styling and the girls there are so friendly and helpful - we knew we would be in good hands. The fact that we could have the ceremony and reception at the same place was also a big tick.

How did you hear about Prea James?

I came across one of Prea's beautiful wedding gowns on Nouba and upon stalking her Instagram page, instantly fell in love with the style of every wedding dress I saw. There was something different that about the Prea James bridal gowns, a unique aesthetic & style I hadn't come across looking at other dress designers or magazines but was exactly the style I was looking for - feminine, ethereal & unique.

What do you love most about the gown?

I love the way I felt when I was wearing my wedding dress - it was designed and made for my body so it was comfortable and the delicate lace was so soft, it felt beautiful to wear.

My favourite part of the dress would have to be the long sleeves and scalloped trim detail - this was one of the only features I knew I wanted when starting my journey with Prea and I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out.

Did you have a wedding theme/style?

We didn’t really set out with a style in mind, but when it all came together I guess you could say there was a Modern spin on a Classic theme - lots of beautiful flowers with subtle styling pieces throughout the venue.

How did you and your now Husband meet?

We met at a BBQ of a mutual friend about 7 years ago – we both agree it was love at first sight.

What is your proposal story?

We were holidaying in New York, our first big trip away together. I had booked a surprise speed boat tour of New York on the Hudson River and we almost didn’t make it, we got lost on our way to Pier 25 down in Lower Manhattan – the trains over there are so confusing!

We were running up the pier as the boat was pulling away – luckily the driver saw us and turned around to pick us up. It was freezing, about 8 degrees so not ideal conditions to be out on the water, we were wearing Ski goggles – but it was so much fun!

When we got back to the pier, I was desperate to get inside a café somewhere and warm up – but Stephen really wanted to go and take photos of the sunset at the end of the pier…I powered ahead to warm up, when I got to the end to my surprise I turned around to him on one knee with a beautiful ring – my fingers were so cold he couldn’t get the ring on my finger. He said he was carrying the ring around in his pocket since we got there waiting for the perfect moment.

A beautiful memory we will never forget.

Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share?

It was extra special to have my Nan attend the wedding, a memory I will treasure forever. She sadly passed away earlier this year, but she told me a number of times that our wedding day was the “best thing that ever happened” so I think she had a good day.

Any words of wisdom when it comes to choosing a wedding gown for our future brides?

I think it's important to really explore your options and styles of different dresses, there are so many out there, so don't settle until you're completely happy with a design you love.

Working with a designer or stylist you feel comfortable with is also very important as you will need to be completely open and honest when it comes to communicating what you want.

With that said, working with Prea was a dream - she made the whole process so enjoyable and easy, I felt like I was visiting a friend with every appointment - her approach was very professional, kind & patient, I knew I was going to love the end result.

Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day? This can be to do with any part of the wedding eg, planning, budget, or the day itself.

Have fun planning your wedding, go to wedding fairs, buy the magazines and most importantly, take time to find vendors you are completely happy with so on the day you can relax and not stress about the small things.

 Much Love Prea x x x

Renee & Jimmy's Northern Beaches Wedding

Wedding Date: 21st October 2016

Wedding Venue

Ceremony: Cardinal Cerretti Chapel Manly

Reception: The Boathouse Shelly Beach

Did you have a wedding theme/style?

We wanted a traditional ceremony in a church followed by a modern relaxed beach reception. We absolutely love the feel of the boathouse – their style mirrored exactly what we wanted. It was a perfect combination!

How did you and your now Husband meet?

We were set up through a mutual friend. Although we never wanted to be set up, our mutual friend tricked us both into catching up with her for a drink. We both fell for it and ended up meeting each other the rest is history!

What is your proposal story?

On the 15.10.15, like any weekday I woke up to get ready for work. As I walked out of our bedroom I found a beautiful bunch of hot prink roses (my favourite), a new country road towel and a card waiting for me in our hallway letting me know I had the day off work today and instead we were going on a little adventure.  We were picked up in an Audi Q5 and our driver took us to Rose Bay where we boarded our very own seaplane. We flew over the harbour and were dropped off at a private beach on the Pittwater – this is where we had a picnic, wine cheese and a beautiful proposal! After a few hours together on the beach, we were picked up in our seaplane and flown back to Rose Bay. Our driver then drove us to Jonahs at Whale Beach where we enjoyed a three-course dinner with a view of our favourite beach. Second best day of my life.

Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?

Choose reputable vendors and be clear on what you want on your day – your event is only as good as the people you have appointed.
So many people warned “something will go wrong on your day”… Hand on heart nothing went wrong and I owe it to all those involved! All vendors were exceptional.

Lani & Mark's Byron Bay Wedding

When my beautiful friend Lani asked me to design her dress, I couldn't have been happier! I have known Lani and Mark for a number of years now and it was so special to be apart of their day not only by being at the wedding but also having the privilege of making the brides gown.

I’m so excited to share all of these beautiful photographs taken by the very talented Amelia Fullarton with beautiful florals by The French Petal and plenty of inspirational DIY details for brides to be!

Wedding Date: April 2016

What was your wedding venue (ceremony & reception) and why did you choose there?

We fell in love with my uncle and aunties property on a visit to Byron Bay to see family – they live in the hinterland about 20 minutes away from Byron and purchased this block a few years ago. It’s located just 5 minutes out of town, and is an expanse of green paddock, palm trees and other beautiful trees. We automatically were drawn to the huge fig tree, which ended up being the centerpiece of our wedding ceremony. It was so special getting married there. We had our florist The French Petal do flower garlands to hang from the tree where we got married. And had simple white wooden chairs for our guests.

Did you have a wedding theme/style? If so, tell me about it please.

The inspiration for our wedding would be a chilled, bohemian, fun festival of love! We wanted something outdoors, with non-allocated seating (cocktail style) with great music, great fresh food, plenty of drinks and a relaxed party atmosphere. I love bohemian styling, which was the look I was going for – from my dress, to the decorations, it’s just a style that I have always loved. Something we could plan and style ourselves and that wasn’t like any other wedding we had been to was what we wanted. We fell in love with the tipi tents at a food festival we went to, so knew straight away that we would have one at our wedding, and it really did look amazing.

How did you and your now Husband meet?

Mark and I have been together a long time, 12 years now (we met at 18), we were actually set up by some family members who knew each other. Although we were together for a long time we weren’t too fussed on getting married. I didn’t see it as a necessity in my life, but when he did ask me to marry him, I just felt an overwhelming sense of love and connectedness between us. We are truly each other’s for life - best friends! I think it’s so amazing to know that we have both chosen each other, out of everyone in the whole world, to be together for life.

What is your proposal story?

Mark proposed to me. We were just starting our 3 month trip travelling Europe and were in our first stop, Ireland. We had a beautiful day exploring the sites of Galway, and were out at a pub in the evening having a few drinks. Mark went to the bar at one point, and turned around with a bottle of champagne in his hand and a ring in the other. I was so unbelievably shocked, as marriage isn’t something we really discussed all that often (even though we had been together 11 years!) and it was such an amazing moment. The whole pub clapped and cheered and we then partied the night away with local Irish folk.

About the dress: My dress was made by my very talented friend Prea James and I couldn’t have been happier with it.

I initially went looking around a few bridal stores with my mum and tried on lots of dresses. After ruling out a lot of styles, I knew that I wanted a long sleeve dress, as I’ve always loved long sleeved wedding dresses. I found some that I liked, but they always had an element I wasn’t sure of, like a high neck or a really low back etc, so I chatted to Prea and we decided to design my perfect dress together. And it was exactly that – Prea gave great advice and the end result was literally my perfect dress. I’m so grateful for her efforts in creating my dress for me.

Brides Hair piece: The French Petal

Brides Shoes: Portmans

Bridesmaids dresses: Zimmerman

Groom & Groomsmen: Suits & shirts from Politix

Tie / Bow tie: Focus Ties

Are there any special details about your wedding that you would like to share?

I created all the food and bar signage, my sister painted all of the signs around the property (welcome sign etc), we collected jars, vases, candle holders and lanterns over time, I borrowed the crochet throws from my mum, and my mum arranged all of the flower vases herself for us (flowers were sourced from the French petal), I made the confetti cones with our bridal procession song on them (Not with Haste – Mumford and Sons), my brothers hung the fairy lights for me around the property, we landscaped the property ourselves (and nearly killed ourselves in the process!), we sourced all of the photo booth props and decorations, my sister set up the “beauty bar” which looked amazing. It was a mammoth task but it seriously paid off – we loved every detail.

The week leading up to the wedding was an extremely stressful one though. We arrived at my uncles property, which is normally very green and beautiful, to a muddy, brown mess that needed so much work. We had the property slashed a week prior but the rain had caused the dead grass to create a layer which meant the green couldn’t get through. We spent the Monday – Wednesday before the wedding raking from literally dawn until dusk, mowing, then raking some more. We hired 2 Irish backpackers to help and I had blisters covering my hands and feet – not very pretty for a bride! There were a lot of tears on my part, and a lot of stress from mark and our friends who were helping. But somehow, by Thursday, the property began to look as I had envisaged and it got better each day. The wedding was such an amazing day, and even more so knowing the effort we put into the property itself!

Finally, Do you have any words of wisdom for couples planning their big day?

If you do a DIY wedding, definitely pay someone to “set up and run” the day of the wedding – it was so amazing having Rachael (stylist) there to make sure everything ran smoothly – she set up all decorative elements, styling and signage, ensuring little things were looked after like the candles all being lit, she cued the MC for his announcements, and she even drove back to my apartment at one point to pick up my garter that I had forgotten!

I’m so glad we had our wedding outdoors – it was risky with the byron bay weather but it paid off, it was so amazing! The bars were also fantastic (we had a feature Gin and Whisky bar which was Marks idea) so we were really glad we did the two separate bars.

We loved our Beauty area for our guests to fix makeup etc as we had portaloos there wasn’t much space for anyone to freshen up, so we found a vintage dressing table at the markets and dressed that up with flowers, a lamp and fairy lights, which ended up looking amazing.

I do however wish we had hired landscapers to fix up the property the week leading up! However I suppose it does make for a good story.

Wedding Vendors

Photographer: Amelia Fullarton - I fell in love with her photographs after seeing them on Instagram, she has such a natural light style. We knew we wanted her straight away.

Hair: Jarrah Hustler Hair

Makeup: Alexis Mahoney (Instagram @spicymelons)

Stylist/Wedding Co-ordinator: Rachel Peachey

Florist: Estelle, The French Petal - who also did hanging garlands from the fig tree we had the ceremony under. Estelle did such a great job!

Stationery: Bride designed (Lani is a Graphic Designer) Printed at Snap

Celebrant: Skai Ceremonies

Cake: no cake – we had churros for dessert instead

Alcohol: Dan Murphys

Caterer: Open Table - Our caterers we found by chance when we were up in Byron meeting other caterers – we weren’t particularly happy with either that we had booked in to see. They were both too typical “wedding-ish” (we knew what we meant ). We stumbled across Open Table when we were doing some googling over lunch. We met Ronit the next day at her farm out of Byron Bay, and she made us the most amazing fresh Mexican food we had ever eaten, I could have eaten the entire bowl of guacamole. So after our initial taste, we were sold. And we were so happy that we chose them to cater our wedding.

Prop hire:

All main furniture items were sourced from Frank and Joy

Tipi: Samikata Tipi Events - the tipi set up was magical. I remember just looking around at one point, with the fairy lights cascading through the canopy and all of the tea light candles lit, watching all of my favourite people dancing and having fun, and just thinking how perfect it all was.

Catering Equipment ovens/fryers, glassware: Mullum Hire

Generator and Toilets: Byron Hire

Music: Local byron artist Nick Cunningham  did the ceremony/cocktail hour entertainment, followed by Jake and Andy for the reception party

Carolyn and Andrew's Modern Sydney Wedding

I’m so excited to share this wedding with you, of my beautiful bride Carolyn and her now husband Andrew! I had an absolute blast working with Carolyn to create her dream wedding dress and wow - did she look amazing on the day!

The whole wedding is perfection and captured perfectly by Willow and Co - so much so I really struggled to narrow down the amount of photos to post for this blog, they are all so good!

Take a look at this beautiful couples wedding and check out all of the fabulous wedding vendors at the bottom. X

Wedding Date: 27.2.2016

Wedding Venue: Holy Name of Mary Church in Hunters Hill, and LAqua in Cockle Bay. We chose the Hunters Hill Parish as we live in the area and it was a church close to our heart.

Did you have a wedding theme/style? Lots of greenery, with pops of white.

W0215-078.jpg

I found my dress the most difficult decision and Prea James Couture turned my ideas into a reality which I didnt think was possible to do it was even better than I imagined. The process was so enjoyable and easy!

How many guests did you have at the wedding? 130, which is tiny for an Italian wedding!

How did you and your now Husband meet? Through one of his friends, and after meeting we realised we had so much in common and a lot of mutual friends.

What is your proposal story? Andrew proposed whilst holidaying in Bali. Rose petals and candles strewn all over the villa floor and pool, it was very romantic.

The bridesmaids were all dressed in Zimmerman, though each dress was altered to look a little different.
